Our Story
Our story began in 2016 when our founder, Sybrand Engelbrecht, was entrusted by a client, still with us today, to manage their dispatch and distribution. It was understood from day one that the most critical part of the process was not just the delivery itself, but the meticulous management of the all-important paperwork - the Proofs of Delivery (PODs) and Goods Received Vouchers (GRVs).
Without perfect, quality-checked paperwork, our clients cannot get paid. This fundamental principle—that our operational excellence directly secures our clients' revenue—is the bedrock upon which Detour Logistics was built.
What started as a single truck and a dream has grown into a trusted logistics partner serving businesses across South Africa and BNLS countries. Today, we operate from three strategic warehouses: Johannesburg (2350m²), Durban (300m²), and Cape Town, with our Cape Town facility now expanded into a large, modern warehouse to better serve our Western Cape clients.
That first truck is long gone. But the entrepreneurial spirit that started it all? That's still driving us every single day.
